Billing Dashboard
How to check your data usage
Purpose
This document explains how Makersite defines billable data objects (Material Components) for pricing purposes.
Material Components include unique purchased or manufactured raw materials, parts, assemblies, or final products. These can be line items from a bill of material, purchased goods, or service line items from an ERP/CAD/PLM/PDM system. Billing Dashboard provides an insight into this data in order to ensure billing transparency.
Counted Material Components
For billing purposes, Makersite counts the total number of datasets created by customers and certain datasets owned by Makersite if they were shared with the customer.
We can divide those datasets by origin into **BOM datasets** and **non-BOM datasets** such as IPC files. Makersite provides a summary of billable data objects to the customer on a regular basis.
Note that processes are not counted as Material Components.
Billing Dashboard
We have a Billing Dashboard, available for all admin users in Makersite. You can find it under **Profile** > **Billing** , and calculate the billing data for a given team.
In order to see exactly which datasets were included in a given category, use the Export button and browse the prepared .xlsx file.
BOM Datasets
All parts in imported BOMs identified by their unique Part Number. Identified as IPNs (all parts **including duplicates** ) and unique IPNs (all **unique** parts with duplicates removed)
All parts referenced from the BOM via another BOM are counted.
Please note that Makersite counts every unique part in the BOM as a single billable dataset, not the BOM itself.
IPC Datasets (non-BOM)
All components and subcomponents in the IPC file are counted based on unique Manufacturer Part Number (Item Number). Note that subcomponents have their own unique MPNs (with Item numbers provided). These subcomponents include multiple (up to several thousand) unique products such as ICs, PCBs, capacitors in addition to the “main” product MPN of the IPC file. Therefore, a difference between the IPC file count and MPN count is to be expected.
All components and subcomponents in IPC files referenced from another IPC file are also counted.
Duplicated datasets are not billed, we recognize and exclude those.
Homogenous materials/substances identified by their CAS number, which are part of subcomponents, are NOT counted separately.
Please note that Makersite counts every unique component in the IPC as a single billable dataset, not the IPC itself.
Other Non-BOM Datasets
All datasets shared with the customer’s user by Makersite are billable.
All datasets modelled by the customer are billable.
Interim Datasets
Makersite creates interim data, for example when generating a Life Cycle model. These object are not counted as billable.
Users
Makersite bills the customer based on the number of active customer users (admin users from Makersite are not counted).
