Before you begin
Owner or Admin. Know the approximate time, item or action you are investigating. Activity records are workspace information; share them only with an appropriate audience.
1. Narrow the activity view
Open Insights → Activity. Set the available date or period filters and any supported content or actor filters for that view.
Search the visible records for the item, actor or action you are investigating. Read each event’s recorded time and object details.
Expand the time window or clear one filter when the expected event is absent; account for UTC period boundaries in reports.
2. Compare the event with the current item
Follow the object link when available and confirm the current item is the one you intended to inspect.
Use article publication history or journey revisions for the content that was live at a particular release. The activity row alone is not a full content snapshot.
Record the event time, actor, action and object identifier in your investigation notes. Separate what the record proves from your interpretation of why the change happened.
3. Follow up with useful evidence
If the view offers a CSV, read whether it exports a limited preview and check the downloaded row count.
Give an authorised Admin or Beetl support the relevant non-sensitive event details and error context. Do not send credentials, private article text or learner evidence in an ordinary support message.
If the item is missing, check access, archive/deletion state and the appropriate recovery workflow before concluding the event was lost.
Check your result
You can point to the relevant recorded event and explain how it relates to the item’s current state.
If something goes wrong
Event missing: widen the period and remove restrictive filters, then check whether that action is recorded by the feature.
Object link unavailable: the item may have moved, been deleted or become inaccessible; use its normal access and recovery workflow.
Export incomplete: respect the preview limit and request an appropriate supported export when the investigation needs more.
