Before you begin
Owner or Admin with access to learning delivery. Confirm the learner, rollout and assignment before changing a deadline or outcome.
1. Open the individual assignment
Open Learning Studio → Delivery and find the rollout. Open its learner details or results.
In People and actions, check the learner identity, current assignment state, due date and assigned revision. Open the three-dot Actions for that learner to see the administrative actions available in their state.
Choose the action for this learner only. For a group-wide policy change, review the rollout separately rather than assuming an individual action changes every recipient.
2. Choose the appropriate action
Extend deadline changes this learner’s due date. Enter New deadline in your local time; other recipients keep their existing deadlines.
Exempt learner records an exemption, not a completed learning outcome. Use it only for a justified exception.
Cancel learning stops the assignment while retaining historical evidence. Reactivate learning restores the existing assignment when the learner’s access allows it.
Enter a clear Reason of at least three characters and choose the matching action button. Avoid sensitive personal details in the reason.
3. Verify the new state
Wait for Learner updated, then recheck the learner’s current state and deadline. If an error appears, inspect the state before retrying.
Confirm learning evidence remains associated with the original assignment. An exemption or cancellation should not be reported as a pass.
Ask the learner to check My work through your normal process. Reactivation does not grant missing workspace or content access.
Check your result
The individual assignment shows the intended state or due date and a useful reason, without changing other recipients.
If something goes wrong
Action is missing: check the current state and your role; not every transition is valid.
Deadline update fails: check the entered date/time and whether it is valid for the assignment.
Reactivation fails: verify current membership and content access before retrying. Do not create broader access just to force the action through.
