Before you begin
Editor, Admin, or Owner with access to the article. Identify what needs changing and who should verify the result. You do not need to unpublish an article to edit it.
1. Open the working draft
In Content Manager, find the article and open it for editing. Check the knowledgebase and article title before changing anything.
Edit the title, description, body, or Article properties. Changed content saves quietly every five seconds, including while you keep typing. There is no success indicator.
Readers retain the current published content, metadata, category, knowledgebase, URL, and assessment placements until you publish the update. A working Draft status does not itself mean the live article was unpublished.
2. Check the complete update
Preview the working article and check headings, links, images, learning tools, and the intended audience.
Review Article properties → Article for the owner, category, tags, visibility, and maintenance schedule. Switching to Actions, SEO, or Files does not discard those fields.
If a save failure or conflict persists, keep your work available and resolve the message before continuing. Do not assume a reload will recover unsaved text.
Request another person’s review if useful. Article review is optional; Owners, Admins, and Editors can publish when the required fields are valid.
3. Publish and verify
Choose Publish. One click saves pending edits and publishes the working update; a separate manual save is not required.
Open the live Reader article with the intended access. Check the newly published text, metadata, images, links, and learning placements.
If you changed the location or title, check Reader navigation and the resulting article link. Author navigation can show pending names and locations before republishing.
Use Revision history if you need to inspect an earlier publication. Republishing an author-only change records the new author in a new version and preserves the earlier attribution. Unpublish is a separate action that removes Reader access and returns the article to Draft.
Check your result
Readers see the checked update after publication, and earlier published versions remain available in history.
If something goes wrong
Readers still see the old text: check that Publish completed. Autosaving a working draft does not replace the live publication.
A Draft label appears while a Reader version still exists: check the live publication separately rather than unpublishing it.
A conflict or persistent save failure appears: resolve it before leaving the editor so changes are not silently lost.
